Ride-hailing platform Careem has partnered with car subscription service Swapp to offer a new feature for those who would prefer to drive themselves. Users can now rent a car on the Careem app for a minimum of 30 days.
For the first month, users who rent a Swapp car through the Careem app will receive a 25% discount up to 1,000 AED. The 30-day minimum car rentals also come with 2,000 free kilometers, after which users can pay per kilometer using their Careem pay wallet.
Swapp is excited about the partnership. According to co-founder Danny Laczo, “we are really excited to partner with Careem to bring an affordable and flexible, quality, on-demand car rental experience to Careem Customers. We believe in making car rental even more accessible to everyone, and being part of the Careem Super App is one step closer to doing that.”
Why it matters
Dubai-based Careem, which is owned by Uber (UBER), has made a huge impact on the MENA region over the last decade and has become much more than just a ride-hailing app. Along with Swapp's car rental service, the Careem Super App also offers food and grocery delivery, home cleaning, and even PCR testing.
