What would it take for us to make the conversion to electric? Perhaps a fully functional electric vehicle assembly and manufacturing plant in Dubai Industrial City to churn them out? M Glory will produce its electric vehicles in the plant, which will be completed in 2024 and span 1 million square feet. The facility is expected to cost around AED 1.5b to build.

The 'Al Damani,' the first of these cars, was on exhibit on Monday. The premium version costs AED143,500 including the charger, while the basic version costs AED127,500 and up.

There have been a few companies that have focused on the electric vehicle space, where design and form factors are just as essential as the range of battery-powered vehicles. The proponents believe that by bringing all of these aspects together, they will be able to carve out a niche as the global automotive industry transitions to electric vehicles.

Why it matters

The M Glory investment highlights Dubai Industrial City's 'transport zone,' where major companies like Al Rostamani, Al Naboodah, Al Habtoor, and Oman Transport have already invested and built facilities that are mostly used for testing and maintenance.
