An apple a day,… well, you know the rest. This seems to be Tim Cook's mantra as the tech giant Apple (AAPL) announces a raft of new products. Apple never does anything lowkey, and its latest announcement saw a new generation of gadgets.
Chief amongst them is a new iPhone SE, which is set to be its cheapest smartphone. The new SE keeps the same look as its 2020 predecessor with a Touch ID home button and a 4.7in LCD screen (with large bezels top and bottom), whilst getting 5G connectivity and upgraded battery life.
Apple also updated its mid-range tablet, the iPad Air. It was last updated in 2020 with a slimmed-down design, 10.9in screen, and Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the power button. The new 2022 model is made from recycled aluminum and is up to 60% faster than its predecessor.
And for the creatives amongst you, Apple has announced the launch of the Mac Studio. The studio is a small but powerful desktop computer is aimed at developers, videographers, and creative professionals who do not want a built-in screen.
Why it matters
With global price rises affecting everyone's back pocket, Apple is keen to make a dent in Android's dominance of the budget smartphone market. Its desire to upgrade the SE and arm it with modern-day amenities highlights its seriousness.
