Hello, this is Genesys calling to tell you that it will soon be IPO-ing. Genesys is an American software company founded in 1990 that sells call center technology. It enables inquiries to be handled by chatbots that run on artificial intelligence. No wonder, it has provided services for conglomerates like Microsoft (MSFT) and PayPal (PYPL).
In December of 2021, Genesys received $580m in funding from Zoom (ZM) and Salesforce Ventures (CRM). This is a very strategic decision — consumers don’t want to wait in line for hours for a robot to provide standard (often, useless) responses. Perhaps, video responses could be more empathic and helpful. We're really excited for this!
Why it matters
Covid-19 has got call centers rethinking their approach – employees are working from home and bandwidth issues may require automated responses. To make these responses more personal, video replies will be instrumental.
