A little late to the game but Deliveroo has decided to step up its rapid delivery credentials. Deliveroo Hop, in partnership with Choithrams, will operate its own grocery delivery offering customers on-demand service in as little as 15 minutes within a defined radius. The latest service will see the integration between Deliveroo’s newly-developed grocery management technology, the company’s logistics algorithms and its network of riders across the UAE.

Deliveroo’s delivery-only grocery store will offer an elevated consumer experience in areas such as service reliability, time efficiency and offer a wider product range. The service will only be available to users residing in areas within a defined radius from the warehouse, to ensure riders have ample time to complete their delivery. The first Deliveroo Hop store in the UAE will serve customers in Motor City, Sports City, Barsha South, JVC, JVT and Arabian Ranches.

Why it matters

Food and product delivery in the UAE is a competitive industry. Rivals like Talabat, Careem and Noon are already ahead of the curve, with all three food aggregators already offering last mile services. As the demand for deliveries increase and the service time decreases, making a shift from less than 60 minutes down to 15 minutes. In a buy now, want now situation Deliveroo’s offering comes at a crucial period, it just begs the question is it too late?
